About Ed Harper and Oceanears

Ed Harper launched Oceanears in 1991, building on a strong foundation in ocean engineering and naval acoustics. A 1977 graduate of Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Science in Ocean Engineering, Ed spent the early part of his career developing and designing advanced acoustic transducers for U.S. Navy programs.

Guided by his expertise and passion for innovation, Oceanears has since grown into a global leader in underwater speakers and sound systems.

As the ADPA’s longest-standing Gold Corporate Partner, Oceanears has proudly supported zoo and aquarium dive program administrators for more than a decade. Ed and his family deeply believe in the mission of ADPA, and in celebration of their ten years of partnership,  have provided funding to establish a new scholarship aimed to help eligible members pursue their SCUBA Instructor certification.
