This is a news article released by the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary about the recent discovery of a wild white abalone found during a Wanted Alive, White Abalone (WAWA) survey trip to the Channel Islands, CA. The abalone was found by a team that included Jaimee Butler, ADSO – Field Operations at the Aquarium of the Pacific.
Wanted Alive, White Abalone is a scientific and citizen science project dedicated to locating, surveying and restoring the wild white abalone population in the Channel Islands, CA. Aquarium of the Pacific is a main partner with CINMS on this project, regularly participating on survey trips and providing integral support for the project. On this trip, 3 AoP staff field divers participated: Jaimee Butler, Kylie Lev, and Melissa Fisher.
