Hello ADPA Membership,
Welcome to the third and final edition of Bottom Times for the 2024 calendar year. Your Communication Committee has put together another fantastic issue full of ADPA and industry news.
We are roughly a month away from our in-person Training Day, Symposium, and Networking Event. Attendance at our annual meeting is certainly one of the most valuable benefits available to our members. The Professional Development Committee has a host of great workshop offerings for Training Day this year. The Symposium will provide informative presentations from your colleagues, updates from our committees, and product and services information from our Gold Corporate Partners (CPs). You will also learn about the ongoing work of the Board, including a proposed change to the Professional Membership bylaws, which is currently being considered by the voting membership. We will cap things off with our Networking Event at the Commonwealth where we will have face-to-face time with fellow dive program administrators. We’ll also hold our raffle that supports the Brett Dodson Scholarship. Registration for the events is still open and will be closing on October 18, so please make sure to sign up before the deadline.
I am pleased to announce the two winners of this year’s Brett Dodson Scholarship – Carmen Montalvo from Brevard Zoo and Niko Kowell from Aquarium of the Bay. We look forward to seeing you both in Las Vegas! Immediately following our events is the DEMA Show. For those registering two or more people from your institution, please consider signing up for a DEMA membership. Silver members receive discounted rates for DEMA show badges, making it more cost effective when registering two or more attendees for the Education Package. Signing up as a DEMA member also helps to strengthen ADPA’s standing in the DEMA community by exemplifying the importance of zoo and aquarium diving programs to the broader diving industry.
For all those attending the symposium, I look forward to seeing you soon. For those unable to attend, you will be missed, and we hope to see you at the next one! Dive safe my friends.
