President’s Corner – March 2024

Share

Hello ADPA,

To begin my first President’s Corner, I want to start by saying how honored I am to serve as the Association’s President for the next two years. I am humbled by the trust that you have placed in me to serve in this capacity. As we usher in the new year, and a new Board of Directors, I am reminded of all the great contributions from our outgoing Secretary and Director-at-Large, who have both helped advance the position of our Association. I have no doubt they will continue to be of service in other ways, but please join me in thanking Halle Minshall and Mauritius Bell for their unwavering commitment and support over the years.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who ran for a board position this election cycle. We had a full slate of candidates for nearly every position. That is one of many indicators of the strength and health of ADPA. Your new board has been seated, with Heather Hooper serving a two-year term as Membership Director, Ashley McCarthy serving a two-year term as Secretary, and Jeff Reid serving a two-year term as President-Elect, followed by a two-year term as President. With the approval from your new officers, we have solidified the appointed board positions with Paul Dimeo as Treasurer, Scott Chapman as I.T. Director, and Jake Emmert as Director-at-Large. They will also be serving a two-year term. We are very fortunate to have a diverse board with new members who will bring fresh perspective and ideas, as well as long standing members who offer historical perspective and continuity with the previous boards.

Lastly, I want to recognize all the members who served on committees over the last year. Their service has been instrumental in providing the highest quality member and CP benefits, the necessary resources for new members, and growing our recognition within the broader diving industry. In many ways, the committees are the backbone of the Association. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please contact the committee Chair, or any member of the Board of Directors.

It is often said that the value of ADPA lies within the membership and I am excited to see what we can accomplish together in the coming year. Dive safe and I look forward to seeing you all at Professional Development Week.
