Greetings Earthlings,
As we close out this quarter, I want to take a moment to reflect on the energy and progress that came out of our mid-year Board meeting. First and foremost, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our Board members for traveling to Atlanta. Your willingness to come here made a significant difference for me personally, as I continue my recovery from a motorcycle accident and remain on disability. Your support and commitment to ADPA is amazing and I appreciate the flexibility!
Our time together was both productive and forward-looking, with a strong emphasis on sharpening priorities, enhancing member value, and positioning ADPA for long-term success. One of our key areas of focus was professional development, where we reviewed the Dive Safety Officer certification course content process, which is a collaborative effort with DAN/AAUS/ADPA, and aligned on elevating Training Day as the core priority for the Professional Development Committee. This ensures we deliver consistent, high-quality education that meets the evolving needs of our members.
We also spent considerable time addressing infrastructure and communication improvements. Several IT upgrades are underway, including enhancements to DPIC and a comprehensive review of our website. These improvements will support a more seamless user experience and better access to resources. Alongside this, we discussed expanding and refining our social media presence to strengthen engagement and visibility across our community.
Governance and accountability were also important themes. We reviewed updates to our bylaws concerning membership revocation and the code of conduct, reinforcing our commitment to professionalism and integrity within the organization. Additionally, efforts to streamline the membership process will make it easier for new members to join and for current members to stay engaged.
Our collaboration efforts continue to grow stronger. We had productive discussions around our work with AZA and our external affairs initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader industry priorities. We also reviewed presentations for this year, ensuring they delivered maximum value and insight and discussed strategy for future priorities.
Several initiatives highlight our commitment to inclusivity and member support. These include the continued development of our scholarship programs, support for the Diversity Committee workshops and goals, and the creation of dedicated committee landing pages on the website to improve transparency and access to information. We also discussed refining how surveys are used and managed to ensure we gather meaningful, actionable feedback without overwhelming our members.
Looking ahead, planning for the Symposium is well underway, and we are excited about the opportunities it presents for learning and connection. We also explored new ideas such as ADPA apparel and SWAG to help strengthen our identity and community presence.
Finally, we made important progress on our two-year strategic plan. This includes establishing a Remuneration Study Ad Hoc Committee, expanding regional meetings, and refining our corporate partner structure to better align with organizational goals and member benefits.
In closing, this mid-year meeting reinforced just how much we can accomplish when we come together with purpose and focus. I am incredibly proud of the work being done across all committees and deeply appreciative of the dedication of our Board and volunteers. Together, we are building momentum that will carry ADPA forward in meaningful ways.
